PRESIDENTS MESSAGE - 11/01/2009

Dear Members,
The Turkish Republic day was celebrated on November 1,
2009 Sunday at the Mount Vernon Country Club. Colorado
Governor Honorable Bill Ritter attended the celebration; the
considerable time he spent with our members and his warm
speech were well received by everyone who attended. The
Governor also issued a “Honorary Proclamation” announcing
October 29, 2009 as the Turkish Independence Day in
Colorado. I would like to thank Governor Ritter for being a
part of our big night.
I also would like to thank Mr Larry Mizel, a long time friend
of Turkey and Turkish people for attending our celebration. I
also thank our members for supporting our association by
being part of our activities.
Presence of STAR TV added more color to our celebration
this year; Ali and Uygar Ozkan’s interviews with Governor
Ritter and the TACSCO members will be aired in a future
date. When we receive the date of the broadcast we will
notify the members who provided us with their email
address.
Los Angeles Consul General Mr. Hakan Tekin visited
Colorado on 14-16 October, 2009. Mr. Tekin after visiting
with Turkish students at the University of Colorado –
Boulder Campus, gave a lecture on Turkey at the Political
Science Department. Mr. Tekin also met with TACSCO
members on October 16th at the Tivoli center. I would like to
thank Consul General Tekin for visiting Colorado and
meeting with our members.
We will celebrate “Kurban Bayrami” on the third day of the
Bayram, November 29, 2009 at the Montclair Civic Building
located at 6820 East 12th Avenue Denver from 12 noon until
3PM. TACSCO will provide tea and cookies. Please show
your support by attending the celebration with your favorite
dish.
The celebration for the Kurban Bayrami will be the last event
and this news letter will be the last publication of the year.
Therefore I would like to wish all our members a happy and
prosperous new year.
